Affirmations are self-affirming words

that are spoken with the power of intention behind them. Repeated often enough, such positive phrases can help you achieve your goals and get what you want in life. You might wonder how simply saying something can bring about alterations that you crave. However, there are compelling reasons you might not have considered that show why affirmations work.


Studies show that when people focus intently on what they want they concentrate their efforts on spotting golden opportunities as they arise. At the same time, it is possible that more opportunities present themselves because the universe aligns itself with the power of commanding thoughts.
It is believe that people’s thoughts travel as energy through the air and into the cosmos. Once out there, thoughts attract positive or negative experiences relating to the information presented. Hence, if you keep thinking that your life is dull; more opportunities to have dull experiences are likely to arise as the universe responds to your area of focus. However, if you form an affirmation stating that your life is full of rich, positive experiences the universe will match the content of your thoughts and send you events accordingly.


Most people want particular things in life that they do not have. However, their wishes are so vague that they are unlikely to be met. When forming affirmations, you clarify your goals, which can help you recognise steps you need to take in order to get what you want. In addition, your clear thoughts can send the correct vibrations out into the world and beyond and help you meet your aims.
Affirmations work because they require you to clarify desires and focus. Once you know exactly what you want and put your wishes into words, you give the cosmos an opportunity to help you.

The idea behind positive affirmation is relatively simple.  You simply choose a goal and create a positive statement to help you focus on that goal.  For instance, if your goal is to get in shape you might create a positive affirmation which states – “I am a healthy and fit person.”  By focusing on the positive aspects of your goal your mind can begin to envision you as the healthy happy person you wish to become.
This positive affirmation can also help you to overcome the negative thoughts that can get in the way of even the most worthy goal.  As you encounter these roadblocks each day simply focus on the positive affirmation you have created.  Doing so is a great way to keep your mind focused on the goal you have set for yourself.

One of the most important factors in the success of positive affirmation techniques is that of repetition.  It is important to repeat your positive affirmation many times throughout the day, beginning when you wake up in the morning.  As you brush your teeth and get ready for the day repeat your positive affirmation.  Repeating the affirmation in front of the mirror will help you to envision your new self, and repeating the same affirmation throughout the day will help you to remain focused on your goals.  After awhile these positive thoughts will become second nature and become ingrained in your life.

One thing that I have learned from my Coach and Mentor Bob Proctor is to carry a Goal Card and always start with “I am so happy and grateful now that…………”
