Nick Vujicic was born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder that is characterised by the absence of all four limbs. Nick struggled with his disability as a child, both physically and emotionally. At the age of ten, after a failed suicide attempt where he tried to drown himself in a bath, he vowed never to give up again.

By the age of 17 he had started his own non-profit charity – Life Without Limbs. and is now a world renown motivation speaker.

It is a fact that there are some people who are more resilient and accepting than others. For those who are faced with terrible misfortunes, they may feel as though it is the end of the world for them, while others may easily rise back from their fall and move on in their life. These people who look at misfortunes in a different light may even turn these difficult instances to their advantage. It is only a matter of adopting an open mind and instilling optimism since moping around will never get you anywhere.

Be Resilient

Resilience is a trait that can help you overcome your misfortunes and difficulties, so you will be able to transform your life for the better. However, it may be challenging for some people to become resilient because of previous and traumatic experiences they have gone through in life. Keep in mind, though, that it is never difficult to adopt and practice this trait. It is only a matter of looking at things in a bigger aspect, which can eventually minimise all your concerns.

No one said that life can ever be too easy, but this should not cause you to be afraid or stricken with depression each time less-than-perfect things come your way. Seek to be resilient and strengthen your character, and you will thrive in life instead of merely surviving each day.

Boost Your Positivity

According to studies, optimistic people are more likely to be resilient, and they do not have any problems looking at their misfortunes and turning these into positive circumstances. For individuals who are not as resilient, they may only end up losing their mind and falling into depression because of these issues.

If you are resilient, you may still experience positive and negative emotions, but it will be easier for you to move on. Although you can still find yourself mourning for your difficulties and losses or go through life dealing with frustrations, you may come across periods when it is easy to discover some value or potential in any challenges.

Your mindset and emotional patterns have a strong effect to your personal life including your ability to focus and get on with life. For instance, you may think that you are the worst person in this planet, and negative thoughts may seem to be the main thing that runs in your head most of the time. However, it is the positive that greatly balances your life. Hence, you it is best that you maintain an optimistic character that will help you remain productive and more able to enjoy your life.
Continue Living for the Sake of Learning

The main reason why you live is to continue learning life’s lessons. As you use each challenges and look at these as opportunities for growth, you will become more resilient and capable of handling pain. Consider looking at your misfortunes as a way to learn and solve problems, then slowly build your confidence, motivation and your habit of going toward these painful circumstances instead of running away from them.

This means, you no longer become too much involved with your challenges, and this enables you to do something productive along the way.

In fact, the main reason why some people are stuck in their misfortunes and go through more challenges in life is their failure to make their life more meaningful by doing simple acts of kindness. As a result, they only believe that they are doomed in life because of their own problems, and they forget that there are billions of people out there who may actually need and benefit from them.

 Let Humour Strengthen You

You may think that laughing can be the last thing on your mind considering all that you have been through, but it is one way for your to relieve pain both in your mind and body. In fact, playful humour is what boosts your chances for survival. It is a habit that minimises tension in multiple levels. As you play along with a situation, you can become even more determined and stronger – and nothing can even bring you down.

So, each time you feel as though you just want to sulk and complain and basically feel like there’s no point in life, try your best to look at life in a different angle. Hang on to a good sense of humour, do your best to divert your attention into the beautiful things in life, and you will begin to realise that your life is definitely worth living!

With all these in mind, try to realise that everyone has their own misfortune, and it only boils down to how you are able to manage and handle these negative situations in a constructive manner.
